The story of the Tortoise & the Hare (English/Urdu)

Once upon a time, a hare who was immensely proud of his speed lived in a deep and dense woodland. He would often boast about how fast he was and how no one could ever beat him in a race. One day, while he was busy bragging, a tortoise overheard him and decided to challenge him to a race. The tortoise was mocked by the hare, who said, "You? A race?  You are so slow, I would finish the race even before you take a step." The tortoise remained calm and replied, "Let's see who wins the race. I am slow, but I am steady."

The hare agreed to the race since he was sure he would win. The next day, they both lined up at the starting point, and the race began. The hare ran fast, leaving the tortoise far behind.The tortoise vanished from view after the hare had travelled a considerable distance. He thought to himself, "This is going to be an easy victory. I have enough time to take a nap before the tortoise arrives."

With that, the hare lay down under a tree and closed his eyes. Soon, he fell asleep. The tortoise, on the other hand, continued to walk slowly and steadily towards the finish line.

Hours passed, and the hare was still fast asleep. Suddenly, he woke up and realized that he had slept for too long. He hurriedly stood up and started running as swiftly as he could in that direction. But when he got there, he saw that the tortoise had already won the race. The hare was shocked and ashamed of himself. He had underestimated the tortoise's determination and had lost the race because of his overconfidence. From that day on, he learned to respect his opponents and never to take things for granted.

The tortoise, meanwhile, had won the race, but he did not brag about it. He knew that he was slow but steady, and he had used his strengths to his advantage. He had shown that patience and perseverance could triumph over speed and agility. The two animals became good friends after the race, and they would often race each other for fun. The hare had learned his lesson and would never again underestimate the tortoise's abilities. He had learned that it was not just speed that mattered, but also determination, focus, and perseverance.

In the end, the story of the tortoise and the hare teaches us an important lesson about life. It tells us that success is not just about being talented or skilled; it's also about being patient, disciplined, and persistent. It shows us that overconfidence can be our downfall, and that we should never underestimate our opponents. And most importantly, it reminds us that we should always strive to do our best and never give up, even if the odds are against us.

  کچھوے اور خرگوش کی کہانی    (اُردو اور انگلش) زبان میں

ایک دفعہ کا  ذکر ہے ۔ایک جنگل میں کچھوا رہتا تھا۔  وہ اکثر اس بات پر فخر کرتا تھا کہ وہ کتنا تیز تھا اور کس طرح کوئی اسے ریس میں ہرا نہیں سکتا تھا۔ ایک دن، جب وہ شیخی بگھارنے میں مصروف تھا، ایک کچھوے نے اس کی آواز سنی اور اسے ریس میں للکارنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔

خرگوش نے کچھوے کی بات پر ہنستے ہوئے کہا، "تم؟ ایک ریس؟ تم بہت سست ہو، میں تمھارے قدم اٹھانے سے پہلے ہی ریس ختم کر دوں گا۔" کچھوا خاموش رہا اور جواب دیا، "دیکھتے ہیں کون جیتتا ہے۔ میں سست ہوں، لیکن میں ثابت قدم ہوں۔"

کچھوا، اس دوران، ریس جیت گیا تھا، لیکن اس نے اس پر فخر نہیں کیا. وہ جانتا تھا کہ وہ سست لیکن مستحکم تھا، اور اس نے اپنی طاقت کو اپنے فائدے کے لیے استعمال کیا تھا۔ اس نے دکھایا تھا کہ صبر اور استقامت رفتار اور چستی پر فتح حاصل کر سکتی ہے۔
